| This site is dedicated to my favourite band: A-ha |
2010 and beyond
On 27 November the presale for the German legs of A-ha's farewell tour has started. Other dates in Europe have not been announced yet.
Mags' new band Apparatjik will release its first single and album on Monday 30 November. Check out their website or twitter.
Latest news
The year 2009 will be one to remember for A-ha's fans. The Summer saw the release of a new album "Foot of the Mountain' which was critically acclaimed and reached great heights, especially in Germany and England. However, at the start of the tour in Germany this Autumn, with a great concert in Cologne (check the 'photos' section for a short review and some pictures), it had already been announced that Foot of the Mountain is to be A-ha's last album ever and that 2010 will bring us a farewell tour, ending on 4 December in Oslo with the 'Ending on a high note' concert. Sad as this may be, we still have the upcoming concerts this year and in 2010 and we'll have their music, on cd and dvd, for all eternity. And who knows, what great new projects they might still bring us as individuals. For now my wish remains to see Magne F live someday. And to be part of the ultimate A-ha party in Oslo at the end of next year! A selection of pictures of this years concerts can be found under 'photos', more pictures can be found at my website.
2006
After playing three English festivals during the Summer, A-ha was in the studio recording a cover of John Lennon's '#9 Dream' for Amnesty's 'Make some noise'-campaign. Other participating bands are The Cure, Black Eyed Peas, Snow Patrol, Racoon and Maroon 5.
Solo news in 2006. First Magne, he has started a 'MySpace'. Magne's MySpace page now features 12 exclusive pictures, the video for 'Past Perfect Future Tense,' four download songs and two blog entries. Then Savoy, they have announced a 'best off' album for September containing new recordings of their old songs and two brand new songs as well. Savoy have also also started a MySpace.
The second single from Analogue in the UK is 'Cosy Prison'. This second single did not reach the top 40 unfortunately, though promotion continues with concerts this Summer both in England and in Norway, Russia and Germany. The lack of success off Cosy Prisons seems to have caused a break between A-ha and long-time manager Brian Lane. Their new manager is Harald Wiik. Read the official story about that here.

A-ha on Dutch radio 2

The new album and tour have been very well received in the UK. The first UK single 'Analogue' was released on 23 January and entered the UK charts at number 10! Well done A-ha and Polydor! The single has also been at number one in the cd:uk viewer voted chart for several weeks. Promotion continued with a signing session in the HMV London store on 30 January and a secret concer in Coventry.
The new video, directed by Howard Greenhalgh, can be watched here.
In the mean time, rumours are continuing that 'Celice'
will be featured in the upcoming movie 'the Da Vinci Code'.
Dutch fanclub news
On 30 October the Dutch fanclub organised a release party where the Dutch
fans could have a first listen to the whole album, courtesy of Universal Netherlands.
Pictures from that event can be found here.
At the release party, tickets were sold to give fans a chance of winning one
of 7 signed cd singles of Celice. With this we were able to collect over 150
euro for the victims of the earthquake in Pakistan.
On 5 March there was a Dutch fanmeeting in Noordwijk. Pictures of this event
can be found here.
2005
This year saw a new album, 'Analogue' and accompanying tour taking the band to the US for the first time in 20 years and to the HMH in Amsterdam again on 18 November. Pictures from the concerts in Amsterdam and Brussel can be found in the 'photos' section of this site. During the tv show 'Domino
Day' after the Amsterdam concert they performed 'Analogue'. This show was watched by 45 million people
worldwide.
The video for Celice, the first single off the Analogue album, was shot with director Jörn Heitmann who is also responsible
for most Rammstein video's.
On 27 August A-ha has performed a 2 hour concert
in Oslo for an audience of 120.000 in Frogner Park during the festivities for the 100th
birthday of the Norwegian company Hydro.
On the setlist were the new songs 'Celice', 'Cosy Prison', Keeper Of The Flame',
'Holy Ground' and 'Analogue' and a number of surprises like 'Living a boy's adventuretale'
and many songs from their nineties albums (EOTSWOTM en MB) among others my personal
all time favourite 'Dark is the Night'. You can see part of the concert on the NRK website.
On 2 July A-ha played during the live 8 concert in Berlin. A report and pictures
can be found here.
Mags has also been promoting his solo album in England, among others with an
appearance in the tv-show 'Never Mind the Buzzcocks', pictures from that can
be found here. His single 'Kryptonite' was picked up 3FM dj Eddy Zoey in the Netherlands
2004
In the Netherlands we had a special chance to promote A-ha during the week before
Christmas. For now you can read a report on a-ha.com.
In 2004 A-ha received an honorary award at the first MTV Nordic MVA and a book
was published titled The
Swing of Things. Along with the book a cd was released with early demo material.
Also a new 'best
of' album was released by A-ha's former record company WEA.
Savoy also released a new album, titled simply 'Savoy' in a regular version
and a limited edition with dvd. The album was supported by a small tour in Norway.
For all dates and further information on Savoy go to this website: savoy-news.com.
Savoy now also has an official
website again.
Mags has launched a website of his own as well, which can be found here.
You can listen to bits of Mags' new album 'Past Perfect Future Tense' on his
website
as well. Coldplay
collaborated on one of the songs and this album is his first soloproject, outside
A-ha and Timbersound. He played a few venues both in Norway and in England.
Mags was also part of an official Norwegian delegation in Vietnam as part of
a visit by the Norwegian king and queen. He played three concerts there
and exhibited his artwork. Mags was far the busiest member of A-ha with an exposition
in Fall in Oslo.
A-ha have signed a three record deal with Universal. For more info check out
a-ha.com.
Apparantly A-ha will record their first album for Universal (through Polydor)
and a release is planned for 2005, followed by a global tour, according
to their manager!
Live album and single
During the German leg of their worldtour in September 2002, A-ha made recordings
for a live-album titled 'How Can I Sleep With Your Voice In My Head'. The title
is taken from a line in the song 'Scoundrel Days'. The album was released in
March 2003. preceded by a 'new' single, a live version of their number one hit
'The Sun Always Shines On TV'. Unfortunately this single wasn't released in
the Netherlands, even though it was recorded here in the Heineken Music Hall
on 8 October 2002. The album tracklist reads:
Forever Not Yours; Minor Earth Major Sky; Manhattan Skyline; Ive Been
Losing You; Crying In The Rain; The Sun Always Shines On TV; Did Anyone Approach
You; Swing Of Things; Lifelines; Stay On These Roads; Hunting High And Low;
Take On Me; The Living Daylights; Summer Moved On
Also a limited edition will be released with an extra cd added, featuring behind
the scenes footage and additional tracks:
Scoundrel Days; Oranges On Appletrees; Cry Wolf; Dragonfly; Time and Again;
Sycamore Leaves
The first single off this album is a golden oldie: The Sun Always Shines On Tv. There's two live versions and a video of the song on the single as well as the Scoundrel Days live-version. Unfortunately there's no newer material on this single.

Lifelines album and singles
Renowned producers such as Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley (Madness, Elvis
Costello) and Stephen Hague (Blur, Pet Shop Boys) have worked on the Lifelines
album. The first single from Lifelines, containing the album version of Forever
Not Yours, the Differences demo and live versions of Hunting High And Low and
Manhattan Skyline, stayed for five weeks in the Dutch top 100, it's highest
position being number 82. The second single, titlesong Lifelines, was released
in Germany and the UK on 8 July. In Germany there are two versions, one containing
several remixes and the other one features the Lifelines album version, a non-album
edit of Solace, Mags' solo version of Dragonfly, Turn the Light Down produced
by Langon & Winstanley, the Lifelines demo and Stephen Hague's version of
You Wanted More. The first 30 000 copies of the single in Germany had a special
code which could be entered on the German website www.a-ha-theband.de
to have an extra cd sent to you for free. The English version of the single
contains the Lifelines video as an extra. In Norway a fourth version of the
single was released with Mags' solo version of Dragonfly as an extra.
The Lifelines video is based on a Norwegian short film: A
Year along the Abandoned Road, by Morten Skallerud (1991). The film was
shot using a specially developed nature animation technique. The result is a
magic flight in one single shot where a whole year passes by at 50 000 times
normal speed! It took 105 days to shoot the 12-minute film, which has won several
prizes both in Norway and internationally. For the music video, the film has
been edited down from 12 to 4,5 minutes. The recordings of Morten, Paul and
Mags, shot early May in Stockholm, have seamlessly been edited into the film.
The video for Forever not Yours was shot in Cuba and directed by Harald Zwart
(who also directed the Velvet video), the storyline is loosely based on the
story of Noah's Arc.
The third single 'Did Anyone Approach You' apart from the album-version contains
three remixes of the song, the demo-version of Afternoon High, as well as the
acompanying video. The Did Anyone Approach You video contains live-footage from
the Afternoon High on 8 June 2002 in Oslo, filmed by Lauren Savoy. If you bought
the new single in Germany in it's first week, you had a chance at winning an
original A-ha golden record personalised with your name engraved on it here.
Lifelines Tour
The Lifelines world tour started in Oslo on 8 June where A-ha performed at the
Ullevål stadium. This concert marked the beginning of a worldwide tour
with concerts in 19 countries from June through October. More details on my
tourpage. On 17 June A-ha
played a concert in Utrecht, the Netherlands in a sold out Vredenburg,
a very enthusiastic crowd greated them there. For a full review and pictures,
choose photos and then Utrecht/Brussels. This concert was such a succes that
an extra tourdate in the Netherlands was added: A-ha returned on 8
October in the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam. There is a report in the
pictures section of this site and there are also pictures available at SkyRadio.

2000 Comeback
The band has made a rather succesfull comeback in 2000. Their first
single since 1994, Summer Moved On, did very well in Norway, Germany and
several other European countries. The same goes for the album Minor Earth
| Major Sky with a 63th position on CNN's Worldbeat
album top 100 for the year 2000.The third single from ME|MS, 'Velvet',
is on the soundtrack to Harald
Zwart's debut feature movie 'One
night at McCool's', starring Michael Douglas, Liv Tyler, Matt Dillon
and John Goodman. The movie was released in Spring 2001.
To support their comeback A-ha has toured Japan and Germany in the Fall
of 2000. They played seven concerts in each country. This small tour was
such a huge success that they started another tour in 2001, including two
concerts in Oslo in March, the first of which was broadcasted live on the
internet where millions of people tuned into it.For a review of these Oslo-concerts
and pictures from the second concert choose pictures and then go to Oslo
in the middle frame. For all tourdates go to my tour
site.
This site consists mainly of pictures I've taken over the years supplemented with pictures by other fans from more recent events. If you want to learn more about A-ha and the latest news visit the official website a-ha.com.
